Efficient cooling and ventilation of the FRUJO Warehouse
FRUJO, a.s. is part of the Polak International a.s. holding and ranks among the leading Czech producers of food components used in various sectors of the food industry.
The company focuses on producing fruit and vegetable components for the dairy and fat industries, as well as sauces, ice cream, syrups, and dessert toppings. FRUJO places great emphasis on organic products and Clean Label components without artificial additives or preservatives.
FRUJO installation in summer 2024
This project aimed to improve the comfort of the working environment in the existing warehouse by installing low-energy consumption technology with quick installation and minimal disruption.
The warehouse faced the challenge of maintaining optimal indoor temperature during extreme summer heat, with outdoor temperatures consistently exceeding 30°C and peaking at 35°C.
Challenge
The primary goal was to maintain a comfortable climate inside the warehouse throughout the summer while ensuring energy efficiency.
The system was required to lower the indoor temperature below 26°C and improve air quality without excessive energy consumption.
What was our solution?
To meet these goals, two adiabatic cooling units, each with a capacity of 12,500 m³/h of cool air, were installed on the warehouse roof. These units are connected to a cooling water distribution system and were designed based on measured internal heat loads, available space, and the required cooling performance.
To extract air, two thermal extractors were also installed on the roof, with a total air extraction capacity of 20,000 m³/h. These units are powered by motors that efficiently remove hot air.
The system operates in a fully automated mode with remote control via a web server, allowing real-time monitoring and adjustments.
Technology used
- 2 adiabatic evaporators: For air cooling.
- 2 thermal extractors: To reduce heat load.
Outcome
Despite outdoor temperatures exceeding 35°C, the system managed to maintain an indoor temperature below 26°C, ensuring a pleasant working environment.
Moreover, the entire system operates with energy consumption of less than 3 kW/h, confirming its low-energy and highly efficient performance.
This project demonstrates our ability to provide energy-efficient climate control solutions for industrial environments, even during extreme heat, while keeping operational costs low through automation and innovative cooling technologies.
